Over this past summer my sister and I had the chance to check out the Crate and Barrel Outlet store in Cranbury. I was somehow born and raised in New Jersey but never found out about this Outlet until last summer (?!). We got a little lost en route but when we made it I was so excited at the possibilities that lay before me in that big beautiful warehouse.
After getting inside, the place wasn't as huge as I thought it would be. Also the prices weren't as low as I was hoping for. Think 'Sale' price instead of 'Clearance' price. And we all know a Sale at Crate and Barrel doesn't exactly mean you're getting a steal. Either way it was fun to look around. The furniture section seemed to have some of the better deals but it would kind of be like buying a floor sample since they only have one of each and customers have been sitting on them for weeks. I only had my phone on me so the pictures are limited and less-than-great quality, and for that I apologize.
The outlet was divided up into sections just like a regular store so it wasn't just a free-for-all grab what you can find, which was nice.
There was also a whole section of bulk fabrics from Marimekko which was great if you ever wanted to make your own tablecloths, curtains, or pillows (I am particularly sewing inept but it's a nice option for anyone with those skills). Through a back door there was an "As-Is" section of furniture that had a few dings and scratches but were deeply discounted off list price. Unfortunately I left that day empty-handed but I hope to go again soon and try my luck at some winter or early spring deals.
Overall I'd rate this store a
B-
Anyone ever gone to the Crate and Barrel Outlet? Pottery Barn Outlet? Any other outlet malls I should be aware of?
