I simply sanded down the top and base just to give the paint a little something to hold onto.
Then gave it a nice coat of glossy black paint.
(So glossy it's reflecting the light from the window)
Where's it going you ask? Well I'll show you:
See those two dinky frames above the sink? Yeah, those needed to leave asap, like as in two years ago when we moved in. But hey, decorating over time is the way to go. So my new sleek black shelf made its way above our sink for some much needed eye candy as well as storage. The Afters:
Dan's vintage metal beer sign made its way onto the wall. As did a few other items that will probably be rotated out as my heart desires. What will stay, however, is the coffee can which actually holds my morning brew and is now easily located next to my mini Mr. Coffee.
The new black shelf helps tie in some of the other black elements in and around the room like my paper towel dispenser, the coffee maker, and the Parsons desk on the Landing which is to the right in reference to the photo above. Here's another pic for reference:
So there you have it, a quick update of a simply shelf which instantly adds more storage and charm. Anyone else tackle a project with spray paint recently?
