As I found them in the ReStore
Flanking my living room sofa
I decided to pull this Peacock Blue (Glidden) out of my matador painting and use it to add a nice punch of color to the room that was feeling a little more brown than I liked.
So I started first by cleaning them really well with a little Mrs. Meyers spray. I decided to skip the sanding because they're not real wood anyways, more like some sort of laminate over MDF- but hey, at $25 bucks for the pair I can't complain. So I just applied two coats of Zinsser primer to the newly cleaned surface to give the paint something to stick to.
Then came the Peacock Blue.
To be honest, I was a little skeptical at first since the color wasn't going on as evenly as I wanted. In these shots there's only one coat but I wound up applying about four total.
I gently screwed in one of the scuffed up knobs to see how it would look against the freshly painted fronts. Then I realized after a few more coats that the color really started to develop and get nice and rich. And I'm definitely feelin' the blue.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the final products. Anyone else have a productive project weekend? Or maybe you just relaxed and enjoyed a few lazy rainy days?
