A pretty close match, or dare I say perfect. The color is Glidden's Peacock Blue and I picked up a $2 sampler of it at Home Depot to try out. On what you may ask? I'm thinking these:
Our living room is feeling a little like Browntown with our brown leather sofa, brown TV console, and brown wood-panelled wall. The sofa we love so I wouldn't slipcover it; the TV stand weighs literally over 300 lbs so it's not going anywhere; and the panelled wall will be staying put since we don't own the place and it's not worth the time or effort to us to tackle it. So the best place to inject a little color and break up all the brown is to makeover these $25 side tables I got a few weekends ago at the Habitat ReStore.
After selecting quite a few color options, I went with the Peacock Blue because it was the closest match and the samplers were right there ready to purchase.
Here are all my other options.
I got started painting with the sampler right away on the side table because it will all have to be sanded down anyways and get a nice coat of primer before any color goes on for good. Here are some more shots:
I used the brush that comes with the sampler at first but it wasn't going on very evenly...
...so I grabbed one of the mini paint trays and a roller from one of my free Valspar paint samples.
After the paint dried I put my lamp up against it to see how it would look.
I also took a little Brasso to the knobs to see how they would look cleaned up. I actually love the look of them a little roughed up with just a hint of the brass showing through and think they will look gorgeous up against the blue.
So here's where you come in: What do you think of the Peacock Blue? Is it a little too wild and bright? Should I skip it and go for one of the other color choices? Or should I suck it up and take the plunge since it's just paint? Your input will be greatly appreciated :)
