I took advantage of this seasonably warm weather and took down the last of my winter decor a little early. I still had out my ceramic pinecones, mercury glass trees, and a few winter candles but they just seemed to be past their time. So out with the old and in with the new.
Here's how the entry looks now:
I've been wanting to use books for their height and texture for a while now so I was happy to bring these out. Their kelly green spines are great too.
The parsons desk across the way by the stairs got a little make-under as well. Sorry I have no Befores but imagine my mercury glass trees and a few more frames.
The mouth is something Dan made in high school when studying pointillism. By the last photo I finally got it into a frame and I love that he made it himself, it was totally free, and it is definitely a conversation starter. The cheery yellow planter and the fact that I was able to bring in some more books just makes me happy. Also, I kind of love that there are only two of my "ceramic" bottles up there but in the reflection it looks like there are three. Tricky tricky. I also kind of love that it looks very West Elm-ish, no? Not intentional but I'm lovin all the neutrals with a pop of yellow. Bring on daylight savings time.
