My Family's Fourth

I know the 4th of July has come and gone but my family has a big celebration every year for it and I wanted to share some highlights from this past weekend. When the 4th falls on a Wednesday the big question is always which weekend to celebrate? This year they picked the following Saturday and like always, a good time was had.

Right away guests were greeted by my husband's '50 Chevy and brother-in-law's '66 Mustang.
Doesn't get more American than that.

My brother fashioned that giant flag out of pallets painted the morning of the party.

We've had these wooden Uncle Sam's for as long as I can remember and they always flank the entry to the pool.

A little dessert table centerpiece I whipped up.

Family friend, husband, BIL, sister, friend

The piece de resistance: my brother's carved watermelon.
Every year they get better and better:

Yeah, he's pretty much amazing

And what's the fourth of July without fireworks?

All-in-all a great weekend. God bless America!
