My Sister's Pink + Gold Bridal Shower

My younger sister is getting married, the last of the girls. Four girls and four boys, this will be the sixth wedding for my family and I can't believe it's almost here! For her bridal shower we went with a romantic pink and gold color scheme with plenty of greens. Check it out:

We borrowed the wreath from my mother, as well as the basket full of shower game prizes. This lovely quote we simply printed and framed.

My brother, a former landscaper who has moved on to landscape sales, is an amazing floral arranger and made these stunning centerpieces. The roses, lilies, and succulents were purchased and he took the rest from around my parent's house! So beautiful.

The mason jars we spray painted gold and they turned out lovely.

Advice, marital wisdom, and memories were written on Jenga pieces and given to the bride!

For her "wishing well" we asked guests to bring a spice to help get her kitchen started.
On top of this cupboard we decorated with little spatulas and measuring spoons with sweet measurements: a heap of love, a spoonful of laugher, a dash of kindness...etc.

We divided 21 verses from Proverbs 31 (about "a virtuous wife") into gold dollar store frames a few lines at a time and placed one at each table.

All in all it was a wonderful day and everything went off without a hitch. Now that all the girls are married though the next shower we plan will most likely be for a baby! Oh how time flies.

5 Minute Kitchen Stool Makeover

I love quick and easy projects that give you a lot of bang for your buck, or in this case, your free sample of paint. Every now and then I get these coupons from Lowes for a free sample of their Valspar paint but I had yet to use my latest sample, Sweet Mint.

So after looking around my house at where I could use this sweet sample I landed on our two wooden stools. One lives in our kitchen and the other in a corner of our guest bedroom. The stools were originally a roadside find my mother picked up last year and they've been great for extra seating in a pinch. Admittedly though, they were kinda blah.

So I brought them outside with my sample paint and a mini craft roller and in 5 minutes flat I gave them a light sand and the edges a little pick me up.

Now the one in my kitchen adds just a subtle hint of mint that makes me smile.

The one in the guest room is sitting pretty as well.

Gotta love a free 5 minute makeover like that!

Late Summer Console

Any by "console" I don't mean I need to console myself that summer is winding down...it's rather quite the opposite! I am a Fall girl through and through and the cooler nights lately are just a daily reminder that my favorite season is almost upon us. To get the living room ready for the impending season I used a little clearanced Target vase filler to add a bit of nature to the space.

A dollar fifty is definitely in my budget so I divided this mossy/twiggy/egg mix between two cloches I already owned and perched them on our living room console table amongst my birch bark candles and other vintage finds.

Although I'm sure this filler was meant for Spring, I think it definitely gives an Autumnal feel without being too season-specific. So a Happy Labor Day to you all! I hope you all get to enjoy the last bits of summer weather before the crisp fall air begins. Bring on the pumpkin lattes I say....
